Cataract Treatment

Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) treat low to moderate degrees of astigmatism. As the name suggests, during surgery we make small relaxing incisions in the limbus, which allows the cornea to become more rounded when it heals. LRIs are placed at the very edge of the cornea (in the limbus) on the steepest meridians.
LRIs are often combined with cataract surgery, as well as other surgical and laser vision correction procedures, reducing or eliminating the astigmatism and the need for eyeglasses, thus increase the chances for better vision following surgery. Our surgeons here at Highland Ophthalmology will discuss all the options and help you determine what will give you the best results you are looking for.
